Lazy update to my blog. I've been using my new Gunnar computer glasses for about a week. Will write more on it later.

Btw still deciding what to get with the RM200 voucher. Maybe I'll splurge on a basket-full of correction tapes. ROFL.

Let's see...what else... Oh ya, I'm currently looking at buying some stuffs over at Amazon. Maybe a decent writing instrument as ~~reward~~ ~~motivation~~ if I do well in my exams. FML.

Earlier today I had an interview/counselling session with the Director to discuss some pressing matters related to my studies. Time is of essence and we decided that it would be in my best interest to obtain to my Bachelor's degree in 2 1/2 -3 years as opposed to a typical 4-5 years period. Exceptions can be made but I must prove myself worthy.

CNY Reunion Dinner 2012 + long rants

We began our decadent dining experience with Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang.

This ought to be a sensitive issue to some(if not most of us). The sinful Shark's Fin Soup with Crab Meat.

I felt somewhat awful but hey, didn't want to stir any hard feelings on such a special night. It is a commonplace food consumed by us folks to mark special occasions.

Look at that huge chunk of shark's fin. I was too disgusted to eat that piece of fin but didn't want to cause a ruckus so I passed it onto another diner(LOL).

We replaced our third dish with Roasted Chicken since we are generally a non-pork consuming family(aghast!). I believe our replacement was indeed a whole roasted chicken with crackers and sour dipping powder.

Then there was this unusual Braised Fish Maw with Mushrooms and Meat Rolls. I dubbed the rolls as the 'Mysterious Meat Rolls' since I could not discern the type of meat used. Hmmm...

This is ..umm... Fried Baby Kai-Lan. I'm not sure what that translates to in English but let's leave it there. It's yummy-licious and healthiest option of the night, I give you that.

Prawns in Western sauce. The sauce was really decent and goes well with the medium(or large?) prawns. I certainly would have my prawns prepared this way the next time we dined in.

Steamed Pomfret Fish in Soy Sauce. This is typically my favourite dish but I was left disappointed that night. I guess it must be the amount of people they were trying to serve at once. The quality certainly dropped this time around. The flesh wasn't as tender as it would normally be. This was the biggest letdown of the night.

For dessert we had ice-creams drumsticks. Come on, everyone knows what an ice cream drumstick is!

Overall, it was a most forgettable dining experience for us. The food wasn't up to par and things were rushed. The restaurants had 3 available time slots this year: 5pm, 7pm & 9pm. You certainly get a feel of them trying to get you out of the door asap to make way for the next round of patrons. It was nothing like this the previous years therefore it was immensely disheartening to see them trying to capitalize on this auspicious time of the year and failing miserably at it. By the way I'm not against any establishments trying to capitalize(it's business afterall) but make sure you're prepared to maintain your standards.

BTW, what is up with Chinese restaurants and their undying love for daylight incandescent light bulbs? I detest light bulbs with yellow cast because not only are the colour cast downright annoying, it's also almost impossible to accurately render your subject's colour and texture! ARGH!

Custom Earplug

This is my second set of custom earplugs from Jensen Hearing. My previous pair was custom fitted about 3 year ago and they didn't fit as nicely anymore. Besides, one of the most important criteria for effective noise blocking earplugs is achieving proper fit. Thus it is a given for me to have a new pair custom fitted for my ears again.

The material we chose for my new earplug was Shore 40 medical grade silicone.

It also happens to be the same material used by ACS Hearings for the line of custom in-ear monitors.

However, a neat little addition to this earplug is the lead balls molded into both sides. It is (supposedly) able to give an average of -6dB noise attenuation advantage on top of the 29dB earplugs. Still a far cry from our original plan of having Shore 70 silicone moulds that would give 39dB(!!!)

I'm not sure of the advantage of having the lead balls but it is noticeably better than my older pair. It blocks out more noise than the older ones. Then again it may be because of it's snug fit which is key to achieving the maximum noise blocking potential.

Shure SE215 IEM (Update)

I bought the In-Ear monitor yesterday as a replacement for my earbuds which died on me after 2 years plus of faithful service. It was a Sony Fontopia. I loved it. It was reasonably priced and it was difficult to find flaws in it. It withstood a lot of abuse from me. ~~I'm not the most gentle person around after all.~~

I've searched high and low for the same model only to realize that it had since been replaced by a newer model. I've been relying on my expensive Sony noice-cancelling earphones as a temporary measure while I search for another replacement.

That replacement came in form of the sexy Shure SE215. Yes I think it oozes sexy all over. Just like Lee Min Ho & Kim Hyun Joong. =)

By the way this IEM is hands down the most difficult earphones I've ever handled. I guess I'm not used to looping the memory wire over my ears. Hmmm...

Update: Having now used them for almost 4 days, I can write down the things that I like and did not.
Pros: Clarity. Bass is quite subdued(balanced) allowing the vocals to shine through. I can hear the vocal range much clearer now.
Cons: Uncomfortable over long period. The Shure hurts my earlobes making them turn red and sore after a while. They're quite a hassle to put on too but you will get used to it.
Overall: I'm not an audiophile myself therefore I find it hard to discern any noticeable improvements over my cheap buds. IMHO, it's probably not worth the 10x price difference. However, I'm fairly impressed with the noise isolation which allowed me to play my fav. songs at 60-70% lower than I usually do. Bye-bye tinnitus. XD

I smell a foul stench emanating from this place as we were walking to the nearby elevator.

This pub had this insanely heavy smell of alcohol and cigarette, it beats everything else. IF you fantasize inhaling all the nasty second-hand cigarette smoke and getting a lung cancer along the way, just stand at the entrance for a whole day.

IT bothers me how far we were from the pub and yet the ENTIRE FLOOR smells of cigarette smoke. Wow. Smokers galore. Lung cancer wannabes rejoice!

Second hand smoke is just as bad if not worst and that smokers are murderers themselves because you pass on your smoke to other innocent people and put them at a higher risk than your selfish self at getting a lung cancer.

In short if you still want to have a puff or two, make sure not to spread it around. Do it at the designated places and keep the smoke between your likes.

Canon Legria mini USB thumbdrive

Okay, here's another fascinating product from the recently concluded Photomarathon.

I doubt if I would ever use it. It's way too precious for me to sully it.

Interestingly though, apart from being a 4GB thumbdrive, it is also an SD card reader.

The tiny black rubber flap opens to reveal the SD card slot.

I had initially failed to realize the screen was an articulating one. Took me a while to found out. I was incredibly gentle with it to avoid from wrecking the entire thing.

It's not that the build quality is that flimsy, it's just that if I break or lose them, I won't be able to buy it again.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II mini USB

In conjunction with the annual Canon Photomarathon recently, a slew of 'limited edition' merchandise was released to the general public. I guess it's not exactly limited since they're available by the boatload.

They had some eye-catching merchandise on sale and I managed to buy 3 of them . Although one was required to pick up the goods during the Photomarathon, mine was miraculously sent to my home address(!). Thank you Canon!

This is my favourite of the bunch. This miniature / model / replica of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II with the EF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens doubles as a thumbdrive. The other two item I bought will be covered in the next post.

I was pleasantly surprised by the details on the mini 5D. This appears to be of a higher quality thumbdrive than the ones being sold on eBay.

The controls are all the opposite of what I'm instinctively used to on my older Rebel. Somehow I ended up shooting at ISO 2000 on a wide angle lens & in bright daylight no less.

By the way I've been dying to sample their fare but every time I'd be too full to try them. -_-

Moving on, this is another instance of wasted opportunity.

The shop does not allow photography within its premises so I thought I would be able to sneak a shot of the gigantic wooden sandals on display but look...the tips are out of the frame...WAAAAHHHH

I ate salted egg prawns, curry fish head, chilli crab, Carls Jr. , macaroons, creme brulee and such during my stay in SG but it doesn't seem polite to snap photo of food when you're out dining. Haha

We ate this for brunch at a food court and so I don't feel as embarrassed snapping photos.

Nice scenery I saw while walking back to my sis's place. This is not the kind of scenery you get at high rise residential in Melaka. They're usually rivers filled with filth.

Once I asked J during meal time what was that sandwich in her tupperware and she sarcastically brushed me off saying "it's not like you know even if i tell you". Yes, it was oink oink sandwich. She said it like what your mom would be like when you did something you shouldn't. The "I told you so" tone.

McDonald's Miniature Food Strap 2

This is the second version released by McD Japan after the runaway success of version 1. I bought a complete set of version 1 from Singapore and blogged about it here.

With the recent arrival of the McGriddle, I have now completed my collection of version 2!

From top to bottom: McGriddle, Salad Marinade McMuffin & Sausage Egg McMuffin.

The hash brown looks incredibly realistic with the bite mark. heh

Here we have the Apple Pie and it seems that Bacon Potato Pie is on the menu in Japan. Lens cap made it's appearance too! haha

I bought all of them separately on eBay.The salad marinade mcmuffin was a bonus I received from a generous seller. XD Unlike the first set whereby all the items are on the menu here, a couple food items stand out. The McGriddle, Salad Marinade McMuffin & Bacon Potato Pie... I guess you could figure them out anyway. (Hint: Oink Oink)

Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM test shots

There is a Canon showroom located on level 2 at Vivocity. It showcases the full range of Canon products for you to ~~fondle~~ have hands-on experience.

I managed to test only the Canon f/1.2 L because it was late into the day and we were in a hurry to eat our dinner. All shot wide open at f/1.2

The DOF is RAZOR THIN!

It needed some getting used to.

I've seen numerous reviews on the web criticising the lens for its less than optimum focusing speed but it certainly EXCEEDED my expectation.

I'm not sure yet if I should get this lens. The f/1.2 is definitely something I know I would benefit from for sure.

Take for example this previously unposted photo:

You will straight away notice the grainy specks, bigger aperture will allow me to use lower ISO thus ensuring my photos are not cluttered with the unsightly grains.

Dim Sum

This unassuming dim sum makeshift stall attracted a long line of crowd, among them screaming & giggling tourists. I never knew one could get so over the moon at the sight of dim sums.

There's something for everyone just in case dim sums are not up your alley.

I had wanted to snap more photographs of the steaming hot dim sums but a line of hysterical tourists made it incredibly uncomfortable for me to linger around any longer.

I remembered eyeballing his steaming pot of laksa filled to the brim thinking "wow, he's in this all day..." and something peculiar struck me. Why is he not at home on a weekend? Isn't this a pitiful and tiring job for someone who ought to be enjoying his remaining years in bliss with his family?

It's not for me to judge his children but assuming he has a family then why is he working all alone without an assistant? For sure I won't be at ease to have an elderly person serving me food. I do hope this is a self-service stall. I cannot imagine the difficulties he face in running the laksa stall.

I guess it's just me being overly sentimental. I sincerely hope he's doing this out of boredom rather than necessity. *wishful thinking*

My new EOS 60D

I got suckered into buying this. Awesome price, what more can I wish for? I spent an entire day ~~courting~~ scouting countless camera outlets and ironically settled on one closest to my house. I'm still getting used to all the controls. It's a different beast altogether than the classics.

Maybank Visa Debit Card

I finally stopped procrastinating my quest to obtain a verifiable PayPal card by paying an unexpected visit to Maybank's HQ. It's really that unexpected...it happened in a flash just one morning and I decided hmmm...why not? Heh.

It took a while to remove the card numbers using Photoshop. Then I conveniently placed BB90 in place of the numbers.

Anyways the card can be used to verify PayPal. I already registered mine. eBay eBay!!!

The Visa debit card works exactly like a credit card would. Your spending limit is determined by the amount of cash you have in the account tied to the Visa debit card. However the default limit is RM500, presuming you have more than that in your acc, you may increase the limit through the ATM.

My first online purchase(not through PayPal) was at Kobo. I bought and downloaded an eBook for US$0.99 . I bet you won't be able to walk to MPH and find a RM3 storybook.

I've been contemplating between purchasing a new lens or a necklace for myself. After all it's nearing my 21st bday so I might be better off with any sort of retail therapy considering the turmoil I've been through!

12.27g of 916 gold at RM173/g . Understandably now is not the appropriate time to buy with gold at its all time high.

Close up on the details. The workmanship charges added another RM77.29 to its overall pricing, nonetheless I love the design so money well spent.

Heartache

I contemplated writing this but ...

There was once this guy A, whom one day greeted P at the library, saying that he noticed that lady, P, in a previous class. A & P exchange pleasantries and their numbers and parted way an hour or so later. As fate might have it they met again in other classes. They were not from the same faculty but had undertaken 2 similar subjects that semester. They got closer as time goes by and partnered for most of their assignments and other little things. P was however not aware guy A had a girlfriend from another faculty. A was caring and considerate. He showed tremendous concern when P was ill and sent numerous smses. A even went through the trouble of meeting the lecturer to inform P missing out her exam and requesting special replacement examination for P. Once P was late for her quiz so A offered to submit his paper as P's instead. He always remind P to take care of her health, to not get too stressed and to relax more. He would call her daily and would chat online with her.

Then one day, after assignment submission the phone call & smses stop coming altogether. A would pretend to not know P when they meet... P would later find out of his true intention through an embarrassing & heartbreaking discovery.

~~-A needed P's help to pass his papers or risk going into probation 2 and expelled after prob. 3.~~

~~They say your first crush and heartbreak is always the hardest to get by and now P understands.~~

I had, in recent week, received the McD car, Bacon & potato pie, Salad Marinade, Egg Muffin with Sausage and hash brown in my mail.

Apart from that I also bought a couple nifty cell phone strap from Strapya World.

The spoon is 1:1 life-sized replica.

I also bought the canned mikans(orange supreme). They looked absolutely delicious and adorable to boot.

And then there is the croquette. A mini-sized one because the real stuff is probably thrice the one I photographed. It is also hands down my favourite of the bunch. The 'crispy' texture is absolutely gorgeous and fascinating.

Let's face it though, I doubt I would ever attach one to my cellphone. T_T

Upon closer inspection I noticed no less than 6(!!!) trays of mysterious dumplings stacked atop each other. Business must be booming.

With this I conclude my trip and posts on the Jonker Walk. Shooting under the mixed street lighting and natural light presented the biggest challenge to me. I'm an advocate of using artificial light(flash) when possible as may have been evidenced by my style of shooting. This is definitely a change of pace.

Lesson learnt. Do.not.ever.ever.again. order the mayo potato chips. Nothing is more eye catching than the horrendous dripping mayo all over your shirt.

Me likey if not for the utterly disgusting dripping mayo.

Then I dropped by the lovely but bizarrely out of place mini-park nestled between two building.

After all I needed a place to sit like a civilised being and devour my tornado chips.

We had a quickie lunch before we drove back to Malaysia. It had not been a fruitful visit since the city were literally dead when we were there.

The person queuing in front of us ordered a staggering 10 bowls plus some side dishes so my sis ordered this fishcake while waiting for our food to be ready.

Mom & dad ate this laksa which they both later declared as hands down their worst bowl of laksa ever. LOL.

I had this intriguing plate of satay vermicelli noodles. I really loved it! The sauce was an interesting mix of sourish and sweetish taste.

S'pore CNY 2011

This is a post of my short-lived exodus to Singapore during the recent CNY. We had to cut short our trip because I was rotting at my sis's place in sheer boredom.

I grabbed this opportunistic shot in the car while we were waiting at the Singapore Immigration checkpoint.

For dinner we went for a somewhat elaborate buffet at Sakura. Apparently all the better places were fully booked and they won't accept walk-ins without prior reservations so for the next 3 days we were here we ate at 'less-than-interesting' places.

I couldn't work up an appetite anyway so I didn't eat much to justify the price we paid.

I believe this glass noodles was the culprit of the massive abdominal pains and diarrhea I experienced the following morning. Hmmm...

They do have some premium stuffs on the menu.

I love mochis. Here on my plate I have red bean, chocolate & peanut mochis.

A scoop of lobster salad I grabbed. It tasted pretty salty. That was all I remembered of it.

Half-way thru our dinner, the God of Prosperity walked in to hand some chocolates as tokens for good luck.

Biggest snowman made of recyclable bottles

Aeon Jusco team had the distinction of the biggest snowman made of recyclable bottles bestowed upon them by The Malaysia Book of Records after they had successfully created and assembled the 9.14 meter tall 'Frosty'.

ID Card

I had completely abandoned my blog for a couple months.

So, a couple weeks ago I dropped by the Security office to have a proper ID made. Little did I know they were going to snap a photo of me on the spot. My hideous haircut is now immortalised on the ID card. WTH. I should have gotten a hair cut the week before.

After getting past the initial state of shock, I flipped the card and saw the Touch n Go logo. Naturally I was puzzled as to what the logo is doing on the back of the student ID card. After researching(read: asking around like a donkey), I found out the ID card may also be used as a Touch n Go card. Neat.

This shot was taken many many years ago, circa 2004. I remembered not having enough $ to buy a digital camera, so I bought an el-cheapo film camera. We wanted to make a return visit but found out the chalets had been demolished to make way for some new developments.

I saw the decorations being put up the same day I ate dinner at Old Town, but I was rushing back(before it starts raining) so I didn't bother setting up my camera.

Dinner at Old Town

OMG. We wanted to eat nasi kandar for dinner but when we arrive on location, we saw that the shop only had left-over foods from lunch. Apparently fresh batches of food would only be ready by 7pm-ish to cater for the breaking fast crowd.

I was already starving so we went directly to Old Town instead of waiting another 40minutes because I was sweaty and famished.

I tested some and thought it was OK. It would be so awesome if they had thrown in some potatoes to soak in the delish curry.

This is my mee jawa with some potatoes, cuttlefish, taupok, half of hard-boiled egg, etc.

I've always loved any kind of potato dishes so naturally the potatoes were the best thing 3v3R!!11!!1 for me. LOL.

It did look really pale(mee jawa) but it tasted pretty good.

Brunch at Hailam Kopitiam

The painter arrived this morning to paint my room so we(actually I) decided to drop by Jusco for brunch while waiting for my specs to be repaired. I broke them, really. I didn't know my lens power was 25 & 50. LOL. I had brunch at Hailam Kopitiam

We arrived so early the shutter's not even lifted so we spent another minute or two waiting.

I have a problem with deciding the appropriate size for my photo. They appear OK on a 20-ish inch but too small(!!!) on a 13 inch.

I dub thee the 'red building'. This is one heck of a red building. The Stadhuys is a tourist hot spot.

This photo is technically the most difficult of all because it was shot at around 8pm, with no ambient light. The only source of illumination is the overhead street lamp.

Ramly burger

The iconic Malaysian hawker fare is one of my long-standing favourites. I rate the sloppy Ramly burger above McD's own McChicken burger.

It may look disgusting and nauseating to you but it tasted awesome. You have got to experience it yourself before passing judgement! I prefer a sloppy burger to a dry burger any day of the week(or year for that matter!)

Ramly burgers are meant to be sloppy and it should stay that way. I mean it's not exactly Ramly if you're not covered in gravy by the time you're done with the burger.

Char Kway Teow

This is Char Kway Teow Melaka style. They're basically flat rice noodles stir-fried with egg, fishcakes, bean sprouts, crabmeat stick & served with a dollop of sweet sauce. This dish is not commonly served with the sweet sauce elsewhere.

Mom prefers the kway teow from Newton food court but I still think the one at the mall is better.

The A&W Purrrfect Fish Burger

A&W wants to be heard and noticed. And they sure did with their new advertisement.

For the next launch of their product, A&W went all out with a bold statement proclaiming that they have perfected the fish burger. I had wanted to grab a simple dog for supp but was suckered into getting the fish burger instead. It does look tempting though.

Let's get into the burger. The poster lists sesame seed buns, coleslaw, a slice of cheese, deep fried battered fish fillet & seaweed as the ingredients.

Unfortunately it fell flat on it's face. The supposedly purrrfect fish burger failed to live up to expectations. I was pumped when I saw the ingredients list. coleslaw=check, seaweed=check, deep fried goodness=check.

It had the making of a perfect burger but somehow there was no harmony in the combination. It's like the fish fillet, coleslaw and seaweed tried to be best friends but their differences kept them apart. It tasted funny. Shame.

Taming Sari Tower

It sucks really bad when your camera can't do high ISOs without butchering the pix.

This is the Taming Sari Tower which offers a 360 degree view of the city.

This was an opportunistic grab shot of the platform rising hence the blurriness. The shutter speed wasn't high enough to freeze the rising platform as evidenced by the motion.

I have not a clue in the world what this odd contraption is supposed to do.

I shot all the pictures above handheld, no tripods. Some of the shots are taken at shutter speed 1/5s or 1/8s. It was a pain in the arse.

Bukit Beruang Nasi Lemak

This is the very famous nasi lemak kukus from an unnamed stall at the Bukit Beruang food court. They have been doing business for as long as I could remember(which prob means a couple years). Although the stall has no name, you can easily spot the crowd eagerly queuing up for the nasi lemak kukus. Follow the crowd and you won't go wrong!

The BB food court is directly opposite the Silvercity restaurant. They're only open for business at night, so don't bother dropping by for lunch.

A moderately-sized packet of nasi lemak goes for RM1.40 . It comes with some sliced cucumbers, hard boiled egg, super crunchy fried anchovies & peanuts. And a generous portion of savory sambal. The coconut rice is fluffy and the rice grains doesn't stick to each other. I just despise rice which gets really clumpy. This proves that a delicious mouth-watering dinner won't have to put a hole in your wallet.

1st Aeon Malaysia Balloon Carnival

Like I previously mentioned, I found out they were having this balloon carnival at Jusco so naturally I had to snap pix before the fest ends.
Everything asides, I had the suspicion only Lady Gaga could get away with this kinda fashion faux-pass.

Teams from the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia & Singapore participated in the event.

IMHO, the Taiwanese teams had some of the best works on display.

I happened to be there during the prize giving ceremony to the winner but as fate might have it, I was camera-less.

I had to return a couple days later to shoot this impressive display of art.

It takes a whole lot of creativity and patience to participate in this event. As such, I was immensely taken aback upon founding out no teams from Malaysia participated. It just seems terribly odd for this event to not have any Malaysian contestants, what with it being held in our country!

My only gripe is my poor grasp of the white balance. The lighting were mixed and awful! Plus I brought an unsuitable lens for this shoot. =(

My new camera bag

I ordered this Bagman from an online store 3 days ago. It was due to be delivered to my house yesterday but unfortunately we weren't in so they had to attempt second delivery the next day(today).

I can fit in a body with normal lens attached, an external flash and a secondary lens in the bag.

The seller also very kindly included a lens pouch FOC. The lens pouch is really nifty, just great for a tele/zoom lens.

Burger King BBQ Cheese shots

I finally tried all two flavours of the BK shots! First the Swiss Mushroom shots, and now the BBQ Cheese shots.

Chicken with BBQ sauce and onion rings topped by a slice of cheese.

It looked pretty disgusting and soggy, and that was because I bought this at about 8pm and only had them later at 11pm.

Hey, at least the chicken wasn't chewy and it tasted awesome. Recommended over the Swiss Mushroom.

I love the concept of this restaurant. Each tables comes with individul built in induction cooker. Depending on your table, this might mean 2, 4 or 6 stoves. I prefer this since it is more hygenic, just in case you happened to be a clean freak like me. ;)

You have the choice of 2 soups, the clear broth or the spicy tom yam broth to go with your food. Remember to specify your preference or you'll get the clear broth by default.

I went to Jusco earlier to shoot the Aeon Balloon festival, and also to have dinner. We had our dinner at the Food Court since most of the restaurant chains are overpriced.

They had this very interesting counter right smack at the centre of the food court, selling deep fried goodness. And also a bucketload of sushi.

Burger King Swiss Mushroom shots

I planned on buying a hamburger for supper but the advertisement for the new Burger King shots caught my eyes(and stomach) so I ended up buying one. Or two. Depending on how you look at it.

This is Burger King's take on the sliders' market. There are 2 version of the BK shots, the BBQ and Swiss Mushroom. I chose the latter since I've been suffering from an IBS relapse.

Unveiling the package. The bun separates in the middle hence becoming 2 smaller/mini burger.

Closer look at the fillings. Chicken fillets, melted cheese and generous amount of mushrooms. I personally think the portion is just perfect for snacking.

At only 110 calories per piece, this BK shots are suited for a great guilt-free(sort of) snack.

The "slider" style of mini hamburger is still popular regionally in the White Castle and Krystal chains.

Overall the perfect solution for those wanting to indulge in the occasional burger or two but hesistant due to dieting restrictions. Use my fingers as a reference in the picture below and you can clearly see why it's a measly 110 calories each.

Why weren't the butterfly facing you in the picture above? Simple. There was no room to maneuver and position myself. To be perfectly honest though, had I chosen to climb the tree at the feeding area I would get a really nice shot. But it's too 'barbaric' in that sense.

My sis bought fish maw and abalone for Julian's nanny.

Both my sis & bro-in-law worked in Singapore so they sent Julian to stay with his nanny for 2 years. My mom's too old and fragile to care for him. Plus she refused to have a maid around so the only sensible option was to hire a nanny for Ju.

My aunt has been very ill lately so my sis, who's rarely in Malaysia decided to drop by her place to chat.

I haven't been able to access the internet for more than a week. Streamyx totally screwed up my connection. It was so unfortunate they weren't able to fix the cabling problem so looked like I would be stuck without access to the net. Grrrr...

What do you do when you stomach is growling in hunger at 1am?
a>Go to bed.
b>Grab unhealthy stuffs from the kitchen.
I usually grab what ever is in sight, provided they're for human consumption.
The first item(LOL) of the night was the takeaway muffin from Kenny Rogers.

I didn't like it at all! I abandoned the duo after just a bite.

Moving on(in anger and disappointment), I found some leftover cookies from CNY. Yum Yum. ^_^

My aunt's superb at baking pastries and cookies.

Ohhh, how about 2 boiled eggs for supper?

This is truly an artery clogging supper bound to make any cardiologists cringe. :P

J.Co Donuts & Coffee at Aeon

On the way back we dropped by J. Co since I wanted to get some doughnuts for supper. J.Co launched their first and only branch(as of today) in Melaka at the infamous Aeon shopping centre.

I never reheat my doughnuts because I prefer them cool and chilled.

This is all about self-restraint ya'll. Only 2, no more.

Not a very good month for me...

I sent my laptop crashing to the floor while attempting to switch the air-cond on. It's burning these days. Yes, it WAS the most unlikely scenario but anything's possible around me.

Sigh. The bottom right hand side of the laptop's casing cracked and you can see the circuitry through the gaping hole. I tried pushing the casing down, hoping for it to somehow snap into place but that wasn't meant to be. =(

I initially suspected the wireless antenna might be broken in the incident but thankfully, albeit the major damages to the casing, it works perfectly.

Here's to better months ahead of me.

HP laptops are built to last, mine's a good example of that.
